European Company Law in Accelerated Progress
held on Friday 23 September 2005 in Leiden, the Netherlands
This conference took place on Friday 23 September 2005 in Leiden and was chaired by Professor Steef M. Bartman of Leiden University. The title refers to the European Commission’s adoption in 2003 of an Action Plan aimed to modernize company law and to enhance corporate governance throughout the European Union. This Action Plan was drafted in the wake of the activities of the High Level Group of Company Law Experts, chaired by Professor Jaap Winter. It already had and no doubt will continue to have a strong impact on the development of European company law for many years to come. Several experts from various European universities highlighted different aspects of this development. The discussion with the audience was introduced and initiated by Professor Jaap Winter.
Reports on this conference can be found in Ondernemingsrecht 2005-16, by W.N.J. van Casteren and in ECL 2006-01 by Odeaya Uziahu – Santcroos.
