Hanneke Wegman, LL.M.
Hanneke Wegman (1983) studied Law at Leiden University and she recently started in the function of PhD-fellow at the same University.
Previously she worked as legal assistant at Brink Advocaten B.V. in Noordwijk, The Netherlands. In this profession she especially found it challenging to study complex issues of preferably company law matters. Because of the continuing globalization of the financial market and the recent scandals concerning several large companies it occurred to her that specific knowledge of business economics and company ethics can be very useful. Therefore, she studied both company law and a related economic study and graduated in these masters in March 2006. The social responsibility of companies combined with corporate governance in the Netherlands formed the main subject of her graduation thesis. For her PhD, Hanneke will continue her research in corporate governance with regard to international financial markets, where topics as the effects of the growth and practices of investment companies and possible solutions for the conflicts of interest between these companies and their managers will be the main focus.
